A rise in the number of hate crimes against Muslims in London is being encouraged by main stream politicians and sections of the media, a study written by a former Scotland Yard counterterrorism officer suggests. Attacks ranging from death threats and murder to persistent low level assaults such as spitting and name-calling are done by extremists and sections in main stream society.
This edition of Press TV's Islam and Life asks how Muslims should tackle hate crimes committed against them.

[26 May 2012] US accomplice to Bahraini regime's crimes - English
The Bahraini regime forces backed by troops from Saudi Arabia have once again attacked protesters in the tiny Persian Gulf littoral state. Security forces on Friday fired teargas and sound grenades at the demonstrating crowds in several towns and villages around the Bahraini capital, Manama. Clashes then erupted between government forces and the pro-democracy protesters demanding the ouster of the Al Khalifa regime. Several people were injured during the demonstrations. The protesters also voiced their anger at the US government for its support of the Manama regime. Anti-American sentiments are high in Bahrain after Washington announced earlier this month that it would resume arms sales to Bahrain. However, Bahraini opposition groups and activists condemned the decision, saying it could encourage further human rights violations in the Persian Gulf country.

The United Nations is warning that it\\\'ll investigate reports of crimes against humanity in South Sudan.
The warning comes after eyewitnesses unveiled a wave of brutal ethnic killings. UN chief Ban Ki-moon says all those responsible for the killings will face the consequences. He has asked the Security Council to nearly double the size of the UN mission in South Sudan. Since nearly a week ago, the country has been hit by deadly fighting between government forces and rebels loyal to former vice president, Riek Machar. According to official estimates, 500 people have lost their lives in the week long conflict. But independent sources believe the real figure to be higher.

A newly disclosed document shows that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation allowed its informants to break the law in 2012 on even more occasions than it did the previous year.
In a letter to Justice Department officials earlier this year, the FBI disclosed that its nationwide offices permitted informants to break the law nearly 6,000 times in 2012. The numbers represent a five percent increase from 2011\\\'s officially sanctioned crimes. The crimes ranged from acts of violence and selling drugs to bribing government officials. Ever since it was revealed by the newspaper USA Today that a Boston mob boss was allowed to continue running his crime syndicate because he was providing information, the FBI has been required to document the criminal activity it authorizes. But while the bureau has done this for over a decade, other law enforcement agencies still do not.

The UN human rights office says a soaring number of executions in northern Syria could amount to war crimes.
In a statement released on Thursday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has warned militants and armed opposition groups that such executions violate international humanitarian law. Pillay said her office has received reports of a series of mass executions of civilians and soldiers in Aleppo, Idlib and Raqqah by militants, especially by al-Qaeda affiliates, fighting the Syrian government. Pillay says exact numbers are hard to verify, but many civilians and soldiers in the custody of militants have been executed since the beginning of this year.

A leading human rights organization condemns an al-Qaeda-affiliated group for committing crimes against humanity against Iraqi soldiers and civilians.
Human Rights Watch has criticized the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, ISIL for the execution-style killing of four Iraqi especial forces near Ramadi on January 20. A video posted on the internet shows ISIL insurgents shooting the Iraqi soldiers in the back of their heads. The rights group says the abhorrent killings are the latest in a long list of atrocities by the militants. It also blasted the insurgents for carrying out deadly car bombings targeting civilians.
