The protesters have held a funeral for Ali Khalil al-Sabbagh in the village of Bani Jamrah, west of the capital Manama. Sabbagh was shot dead by regime forces there on Tuesday. He\'s the latest victim of the ongoing crackdown by the Al Khalifah regime on dissent. Police, however, say he died after a bomb he was holding in his hands, went off. They also claim that he was wanted for criminal offences. Bahrain has been the scene of pro-democracy rallies for more than two years now. The Al Khalifah is responding with heavy-handed tactics which have led to scores of deaths and thousands of detentions.

Egypt is witnessing another day of violence. Clashes have broken out between security forces and pro-Morsi protesters in the capital Cairo and the country\'s second largest city, Alexandria.
Security forces attacked student protesters on the campus of al-Azhar University in Cairo. Reports from Egypt say several other universities in the capital have also become the scene of violent clashes between security forces and student protesters. Clashes have also been reported from two areas in Alexandria as people demanded an end to the military rule and the reinstatement of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi. Several people were detained as police tried to disperse demonstrators. On Tuesday, security forces clashed with students on two university campuses in Cairo and the Asyut governorate. The health ministry has confirmed that 36 people were injured in the violence there. Egyptian universities have recently witnessed mass student rallies in support of the toppled leader.

A security official says Special Forces have conducted operations in the city. The army has also been deployed around Fallujah ahead of the operation to provide residents with a safe passage. Earlier, a senior military commander said it will take Iraqi forces up to three days to fully dislodge al-Qaeda-linked militants from the two cities in the western Anbar province. Iraqi security forces have been combating al-Qaeda-linked insurgents in the western Anbar province in recent days. The fighting has killed many from both sides.

The participants in the gathering known as Loya Jirga are discussing the draft of a long-awaited bilateral security deal between Kabul and Washington. The draft agreed on Wednesday appears to meet US demands on some thorny issues. Among them are US troops\' unilateral operations, their authority to enter Afghan homes and immunity from prosecution. In his opening speech at the meeting, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said 15000 foreign forces would remain in Afghanistan if the deal is inked. The presence of US-led forces in Afghanistan has generated deep anti-US sentiments among Afghans who accuse Washington of violating their country\'s sovereignty and killing civilians.

General Idris also claimed that besides fighting with Syrian forces, the F-S-A forces have fought another war with al-Qaeda at dozens of different locations over the past six months. The so-called Free Syrian Army also says that it has dropped the precondition for President Bashar al-Assad to leave power before the upcoming Geneva peace conference.

Angry students were protesting the death of two of their peers in clashes with security forces on Monday. Reports say there are clashes in both branches of Al-Azhar University in Cairo and Asyut. The students have also been protesting the trial of their peers at a criminal court on charges of attacking the Al-Azhar headquarters. The Al-Azhar student union has called for a strike across the university\'s branches until the perpetrators of Monday\'s killings are brought to justice.

Another Bahraini activist has fallen victim to the Al Khalifah regime\'s crackdown on dissent. This time, regime forces have shot and killed a 17-year-old. Reports from the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom say Ali Khalil al-Sabbagh was shot in the head in Bani Jamrah today. He had previously been arrested by the regime. On its Twitter account, Bahrain\'s Interior Ministry accused Sabbagh of being a terrorist and claimed he was trying to plant a bomb. The Bahraini security forces have also arrested Sabbagh\'s father. After news of the teenager\'s death broke, Bahrainis took to the streets across the island and held demonstrations.

Thousands have been killed as the military cracks down on demonstrations across the country. Thousands of others have also been arrested.

On Friday, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to protest against the regime\'s crackdown. The demonstration was called by Bahrain\'s main opposition group, al-Wefaq. Ahead of the action, al-Wefaq issued a statement accusing the ruling Al Khalifah regime of failing to implement the recommendations made by a commission of inquiry. Al-Wefaq also condemned the continued arrests, political trials, and discrimination against the Shia majority in the Persian Gulf island nation.

Egyptian security forces have fired tear gas at dozens of university students outside their Cairo campus. The violence broke out when the students tried to reach the nearby Defense Ministry building.
Dozens of students pelted security forces with rocks, while some picked up tear gas canisters and threw them back. The students were demonstrating outside Ain Shams University in eastern Cairo as part of a widening protest movement at universities against the military-backed government. With these actions, supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi have been keeping up the pressure on the authorities. Demonstrations have been held at Al-Azhar University and the University of Cairo in recent months.
