Ahmadinejad urges fair nuclear talks After the EU announced the date for a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the talks should be based on justice. President Ahmadinejad in an address to the people of the northwestern Iranian province of Ardebil on Sunday said the Islamic Republic had previously expressed readiness to hold talks over its nuclear energy program. "Holding talks with Iran is the best choice for you. You have no other option. All the other ways are closed. You know the fact very well," he added. The Iranian chief executive, however, stressed that the talks should be held based on justice and respect. "They thought they can weaken the Iranian nation through imposing sanctions and posing threats, but Iranians have showed integrity, convergence and strength," he emphasized. "The Iranian nation will not give up an iota of its international rights," he went on to say. PA to renew Israeli talks without freeze Despite Israel's refusal to extend its settlement freeze, the Palestinian Authority (PA) will still resume the second round of direct talks with Tel Aviv. The upcoming meeting will be held at Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Tuesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting PA Chief Mahmoud Abbas held the first round of negotiations in Washington on September 2. Following the first meeting, Abbas warned that he would leave the negotiations should Israel resume its illegal settlement activities. The Israeli military claimed Monday that the attack was in retaliation for mortar attacks by Hamas fighters on southern Israel. There have been no immediate reports of casualties, a Press TV correspondent reported. The raid came after an Israeli tank on Sunday killed three people in the town of Beit Hanoun. The Israeli violation of the coastal enclave comes after the Palestinian Authority engaged in direct talks with Tel Aviv. The incursion is in violation of a Palestinian demand for Israel's complete withdrawal behind the borders of 1967, when it captured Gaza, the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem). The head of Syria\'s \'Popular Front for change and liberation\' says that peace talks on Syria in Geneva are doomed for a stalemate unless a delegation representing all Syrian internal opposition groups is present. The so-called Syrian National Coalition says a decision whether to attend the talks would be taken in the coming days. But, it remains unclear whether it can enforce any agreement as dozens of militant groups have recently rejected the umbrella group as their representative.

Yemeni Houthis have withdrawn from the crucial reconciliation talks after gunmen shot dead the representative of the Shia group. Security officials say Ahmed Sharafeddin was gunned down on his way to a hotel where the talks are being held in the capital Sana\'a. The university professor of law was a leading figure in the group. Sharafeddin is the second Houthi representative killed ahead of the talks. His assassination comes as the fighters are engaged in heavy clashes with a tribe linked to Salafists in Amran province. The two sides have been negotiating in Geneva over the the past few days, with talks deadlocked over the opposition\'s insistence that President Bashar al-Assad resign. Brahimi has also said that the U-S and Russia are vehemently working to find a solution to the current conflict in Syria. The U-N-Arab League envoy says the talks will continue through Friday.

Thousand of Israelis have held a rally in Jerusalem al-Quds against talks between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian Authority. The rally was attended by several prominent rabbis within the settler community. The protesters called on Israeli authorities to halt talks with the P-A demanding that Tel Aviv expand and continue its settlement activities in the West Bank. The participants called US Secretary of State John Kerry\\\'s framework agreement for the so-called peace talks anti-Semitic. The so-called Kerry plan is expected to call for a phased Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank based on the 1967 lines with unprecedented security arrangements in the strategic Jordan Valley. Israel has recently been facing mounting international pressure and isolation over its continued settlement activities.

The Syrian foreign minister says the Geneva two conference had no tangible results because of the foreign-backed opposition\'s quote immaturity. Walid al-Muallem also accused the United States of interfering in the meetings. Speaking on the last day of the talks on Syria, Muallem said the government delegation had agreed to discuss everything but the opposition refused to address the issue of terrorism and threatened to derail the talks. Earlier in the day, Syrian information minister Omran al-Zoubi said the opposition delegation will not win concessions from Damascus in any future talks. Meanwhile, Loay Safi a member of the so-called Syrian National Coalition says Damascus was forced to attend the talks because of the actions of the insurgents who are QUOTE the true voice of the Syrians.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany end a second day of talks over the country\'s nuclear energy program. Iran\'s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who\'s heading the Iranian delegation, met with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on the second day of negotiations in Geneva. Ashton represents the five permanent members of UN Security Council and Germany. Her spokesman says the latest talks were \"very substantial and detailed\".

It\'s the third day of nuclear negotiations in Geneva. Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have wrapped up the first round of talks over Tehran\'s nuclear energy program. The negotiations are now adjourned for further internal consultations. Iran\'s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif heads the Iranian team and EU\'s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton represents the P-five-plus-one group of countries. They\'re trying to hammer out a draft agreement to resolve the decade-old standoff over Tehran\'s nuclear program. Iran\'s right to uranium enrichment remains one of the major sticking points in the talks. Tehran has already made it clear that any agreement which does not include the issue of enrichment is not acceptable. The previous round of talks failed to reach an agreement after France, under the influence of Israel, blocked a proposed deal.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has launched a new effort to include Iran in the upcoming Syria peace talks in Geneva. Ban Ki-moon said that Iran needs to contribute to peace in Syria along with others in the region. He also called the division about Iranian participation unfortunate. The remarks came two days after the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, released a list of participants for the January talks. Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, India, and Indonesia are some of the countries invited to the conference. Brahimi said that Iran is not on the list because of US opposition.
