Iranian president\'s proposal for a global campaign against violence and extremism has been approved by the United Nations. Iran\'s UN ambassador Mohammad Khazaee said the UN General Assembly approved unanimously the draft resolution put forth by Iran for \"A world against violence and extremism\" - known as WAVE. He also noted that the resolution is aimed at promoting global interactions to eradicate violence across the world. Iranian diplomats have for months been negotiating with other UN members to finalize the draft document. In his speech to the UN General Assembly earlier this year, President Rouhani said that the world should unite against violence and extremism.

The UN chief is warning that violence is spreading in South Sudan as fighting between rival army factions continues unabated. Ban Ki-moon says he\'s deeply concerned about the situation in the country and that the crisis should be dealt with through dialog. Meanwhile, a UN official says at least 19 people are killed in fresh clashes in Bor, the capital of Jonglei state. The army now says it has lost control of the city. Tensions are also rising in other part of the country. South Sudan has been witnessing deadly violence after President Salva Kiir accused former vice president Riek Machar of trying to launch a coup. Machar who was sacked in July has denied the accusations. Based on U-N figures, up to 500 people have been killed and 800 others wounded since the violence broke out on Sunday.

Violence once again sweeps through Iraq, as SEVERAL soldiers were killed in pre-dawn attacks against their encampment guarding an oil pipeline in Northern Iraq. The style of attack mirrored another incident which took place in recent days in the town of Tuz Kharmatu where 6 police officers were executed by militants.Many claim the recent wave of violence in Iraq is the worst the country has seen in years. Political analyst Hamze Mustapha says the situation can not be contained by the army alone. Violence intensified in Iraq in recent weeks as foreign backed militants attempted to take over the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi in Anbar province.

A UN panel has urged Myanmar to stop Buddhist violence against Rohingya Muslims but the resolution has seen opposition from an unlikely source: The party of Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Chee. In its resolution, the UN General Assembly\'s human rights committee has called on Myanmar to give the Rohingya minority equal access to citizenship. But the demand apparently didn\'t sit well with the West\'s democracy icon Suu Chee, whose party accused the UN of interfering in Myanmar\'s internal affairs. Buddhist violence against Rohingya which is said to have the state backing has become routine in Myanmar. It\'s left hundreds dead and sent another 240-thousand fleeing their homes. But Suu Chee has had little to say about Rohingya rights. And she even declined to meet with the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation delegation visiting Myanmar this week to look into the plight of Muslims.

Iraqi prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki has blamed QUOTE \"diabolical and treacherous\" Arab states for the recent surge of violence in Iraq. Maliki says Iraq is a target for certain countries that support evil and terrorism. He warned that violence has started to expand and will ultimately reach the countries which are backing it. Maliki did not specify which countries support violence in Iraq. In the past, Iraqi authorities blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for fueling unrest in their country. Iraq has seen a surge in terrorist attacks over the past year. The army, in recent weeks, has been fighting militants from al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the western province of Anbar. On Sunday, it launched a major offensive against the militants in the provincial capital, Ramadi.

This is the aftermath of the latest attack in Pakistan\'s garrison city of Rawalpindi.The violence carried out by pro-Taliban militants has left over a dozen people dead including a number of security officials. This was the second deadly attack in as many days.The unrest took place just hours before the country\'s federal cabinet met to discuss the new national security policy for dealing with the growing violence. Chairing a special cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the series of attacks targeting security forces. The city of Detroit, Michigan made headlines last month when police reported that there were 13 people shot in 24 hours. But other cities in the US are also starting to see an increase in violent crime. The surge in violence comes as the FBI releases figures that indicate that the crimes are part of a nationwide trend. The FBI figures suggest the overall increase in violence is due to a surge in crimes committed in larger cities-- after six years of steady declines. Violent crimes include murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assaults. Nationally, those crime rates have edged up 1.2 percent year-over-year, according to the FBI\'s Preliminary Annual Uniform Crime Report. The largest increases happened in cities with populations of between 500,000 and one million people. This is where violent crime rose by 3.7 percent, including a 12.5 percent spike in murder rates. Both Egypt\'s armed forces and al-Azhar, the highest Islamic authority in the country, have issued statements strongly warning against violence in the upcoming protests. General Abdul Fatah El Sissi, the Minister of Defense said that the moral responsibility of the armed forces is towards the people and thus it will intervene to prevent the country from slipping into violence that could lead to the disintegration of the state. On another front, al-Azhar scholars asserted to Press TV that the Islamic institution is not against any peaceful means of voicing concerns about the future of the country. Press TV has conducted an interview with Saeed Shehabi, from the Bahrain Freedom Movement, about Bahrain\'s opposition condemning the recent bomb attack on a mosque in Riffa, the kingdom\'s second largest city, dismissing allegations of involvement in the attack. He mentioned: \"it is clear that the regime was behind it because Bahrainis first of all are not inclined towards violence. The violence is done by the regime who killed more than hundred and forty people while none of the Al Khalifa members has ever been injured in the past two hundred years.\"
